Using his trademark corrugated iron Jeff Thomson has interpreted a classical vase or amphora. Or perhaps it is a vessel that fits more comfortably in the pacific tradition with the suggestion of the koru form and the patina of the old iron.
Jeff Thomson is renowned for turning his artistic eye and hand to the many natural, geographical and manufactured things that surround us. These autumn and spring leaves, made from iron, are screen printed with vibrant colour. The delicate texture created by the laser cut metal suggests the skeletal forms of leaves, a natural lace-like filigree.
