screen printed vinyl on fluorescent light housing, edition of 7, 1220 x 220mm. $6,500
In this series Parekowhai's screen printed light boxes "fuses the brash look of Vegas chapels with the intricately patterned rafters of the wharenui". The title refers not only to the Old Testament patriarch, but also the artist's ancestor Aperahama Tukoko. "Parekowhai creates a mobile wharenui, a meeting house within the house of the art gallery. This house full of light materializes with the flick of a switch and there is room for all comers inside it."
